The project "Cats on TikTok" deals with the issue of mass consumption of media and social media.

For three hours spread over three days, we took screenshots of cat videos we watched on TikTok. At the same time, we each took a photo of ourselves consuming the videos. Beforehand, we defined three categories under which we individually searched and watched videos that appealed to us personally. Our goal was thus to categorize the screenshots and define and compare our personal tastes regarding cat videos on TikTok. By juxtaposing the many colorful and diverse screenshots of TikTok's videos with the drab screenshots of ourselves, the mass consumption of media and social media becomes figuratively visible.

The website is inspired at TikTok, respectively the TikTok Grid. To see more information, the visitor has to "downswipe". We were inspired by the Youtuber cyriak and his video "welcome to kitty city". His trashy collage style was a perfect fit for our vision of consumption on TikTok. With our collected data we created two collages in this style, which visualize our consumption again in total.
